Job Description

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Oklahoma City is seeking a Principal Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to join the on-site team. This role focuses on identifying vulnerabilities in software and hardware, building automation for cybersecurity processes, and guiding security layout and verification across the system development lifecycle. The position supports security verification activities and influences the selection of cybersecurity tools to protect critical programs within the Air Force domain.

Responsibilities

  • Address complex cybersecurity challenges and technical problems.
  • Assess software static code analysis results.
  • Perform Cybersecurity Impact Appraisals/Evaluations on hardware and software projects.
  • Generate and maintain artifacts required for Air Force authorization decisions.
  • Conduct system vulnerability scans using ACAS and STIGs.
  • Perform manual STIG/SRG verifications on diverse equipment, collecting and evaluating findings.
  • Categorize systems based on impact analysis.
  • Develop RMF package artifacts such as System Security Plan, Continuous Monitoring Plan, Risk Assessment Report, Security Control Traceability Matrix, and Plan Of Actions & Milestones.
  • Participate in systems engineering events across the system development lifecycle.
  • Engage in Systems Engineering Technical Review events (PDR, CDR, SRR, TRR) throughout the lifecycle.
  • Implement, review, and assess cybersecurity verification/validation methods for system requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with at least 5 years of relevant military or professional experience, or a Master's in a STEM field with at least 3 years, or a PhD with at least 1 year.
  • Active US Government Secret clearance or higher, with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a timeframe determined by business needs.
  • Experience in cybersecurity vulnerability assessments and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, NSS/CSA PM 9-12, and JSIG.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of verification and validation planning and execution
  • Foundational knowledge of engineering change processes
  • Experience performing cybersecurity impact assessments during design changes, capability upgrades, or baseline reviews
  • Experience performing system vulnerability scans using ACAS and automated STIG tools such as Evaluate STIG or Security Compliance Checker
  • Experience with networking technologies, router and switch configurations, troubleshooting, and security/vulnerability assessments
  • Active Top Secret clearance

Salary

Primary level salary range: USD 102,600.00 – 153,800.00 per year. This range is a general guideline; final offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses may reward individual contributions, with potential long-term incentives for certain roles.
