Job Description

Work on practical, safety-focused gas infrastructure while collaborating across engineering and operations. This hybrid role in Reading, PA supports the planning, design, coordination, and review of gas transmission and distribution construction projects, with an emphasis on code compliance, cost control, and reliable system integrity.

How you’ll contribute

  • Plan and design gas facilities and related work, including cost estimates, to support safe and cost-effective maintenance of the area distribution system.
  • Ensure system integrity using network analysis and develop plans for regional replacement programs.
  • Build and manage project bid packages by preparing, evaluating, and awarding them, and then monitor progress while handling issues to maintain effective cost control.
  • Develop the annual Capital Construction Budget for the area of responsibility, including implementation and substitution as required.
  • Coordinate internal priorities and key execution inputs such as C&M installation concerns, project manpower requirements, materials procurement, and permit applications.
  • Support construction execution by developing required procedures for transmission and distribution projects, including construction sequences, purge plans, tie-ins, and pressure tests.
  • Assist operations by addressing maintenance issues that require engineering support.
  • Coordinate supporting engineers assigned to projects, including personnel resource management for the sub region.
  • Support the development of engineering personnel through training, education, and motivation, and provide engineering support to operational areas as required.

Project scope

  • Support mains, services, meter, and regulator installations for both system replacement and system reinforcement projects.
  • Coordinate engineering review to assure projects are completed in accordance with applicable federal, state, and municipal codes.

What you bring

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (required)
  • 8+ years of General Construction Knowledge
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable Federal (DOT), State (PUC), and local codes and regulations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills
  • Proficient drawing and drafting skills, especially related to natural gas construction
  • Proficient decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient project and program management
