Process Engineer Pre-Contract
Job Description
AQUATECH INTERNATIONAL LLC is hiring a Pre-Contract Process Engineer for the Houston, TX office (onsite). In this role, you will support concept-design stage development for water and wastewater treatment opportunities, working closely with internal teams and contributing to key deliverables such as DBR/BFD/PFD documentation, concept notes, and proposal support. You will report to the Vice President of Process Development and help shape how opportunities move forward into paid Engineering Services Agreement (ESA) work.
What you’ll do
- Participate in meetings with potential customers to help them develop concept design to follow paid Engineering Services Agreement (ESA) activities, including supporting formation of a formal RFP or, when appropriate, procurement directly from AQUATECH on an exclusivity basis.
- Review customer inputs to formulate a Design Basis Report (DBR) and align the work to a clear project objective with client representatives.
- Develop multiple design alternatives using Block Flow Diagrams (BFD), each including critical expected performance data.
- Carry out concept-design stage process calculations to size non-thermal treatment processes and equipment for selected configurations.
- Coordinate internal review of concept-design stage sizing for non-thermal treatment processes and equipment with the appropriate application team (AIC or ASA), as determined by management.
- Coordinate concept-design stage process calculations with the ICD group to size thermal treatment processes and equipment for selected configurations.
- Coordinate and participate in laboratory or pilot testing activities as needed for proposed process configurations during concept design.
- Develop a Process Flow Diagram (PFD) using draftsperson support from the appropriate application team (AIC or ASA) as part of Concept Note (CN) submissions.
- Create budgetary cost estimates for proposed systems using resources from the Cost Estimation team.
- Compile the Concept Note (CN) as the final deliverable for concept design.
- Organize a Workshop on Concept Note Process Evaluation with client representatives and relevant AIC/ASA stakeholders, and secure client selection of the best process configuration for the next intended phase under the ESA.
- Draft an ESA proposal for submission to clients, based on the workshop scope of work.
- Support the Sales and Business Development team by responding to customer queries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience.
- B.S. Degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
- Ability to work independently to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Effective communication, a positive attitude, strong organizational skills, and excellent writing skills.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding P&IDs for water and wastewater projects.
- Ability to plan and manage assigned projects with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with a personal computer including MS Word and Excel to develop designs, spreadsheets, and high-level system narratives.
- Future ability to prepare and present AIC system design concepts in classroom settings.
- Proficiency using MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access.
