Job Description

Onsite in Gahanna, OH, this hands-on Product Development Engineer focuses on the formulation and development of filled, reinforced, and impact-modified engineered thermoplastic compounds.

Responsibilities

  • Plan experiments using formal experimental design techniques when appropriate; schedule, execute, and document results.
  • Prepare and maintain data sheets and formulation specifications.
  • Answer inquiries from customers, Sales Engineers, and Application Development Engineers via phone and email.
  • Provide technical problem solving and troubleshooting support to customers and teammates.
  • Contribute to technical reviews, present findings, and run process trials at customer facilities.
  • Stay informed of developing technologies and intellectual property related to engineered thermoplastic compounds.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and industry experts to enable the company to deliver the best total solution for customer applications.
  • Provide application development support to the company’s Sales Force and customers.
  • Evaluate and approve new raw materials.
  • Train and mentor other engineers and technicians.
  • Support the Gahanna plant with technical assistance related to process and product quality in production.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering or related field; minimum 10 years of experience.
  • Strong organizational abilities with familiarity in experimental design techniques and statistical analysis.
  • Practical, hands-on approach to processing and manufacturing.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to interact well with people at various positions and levels inside and outside the company.
  • Strong work ethic and safety awareness.
  • Regular attendance as an essential function of the role.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Communicates by phone, email, in person, and videoconferencing (Teams) with internal and external contacts.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Operates a computer and standard office equipment (copy machine, printer).
  • Requires talking and listening to coordinate day-to-day interactions.
  • Travel to other locations as needed.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work in standard office, lab, and production environments; office noise typically low, production floor and lab medium to high; vision requirements may include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Use safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses, safety shoes, face shields, and gloves.
