Professional Engineer
Job Description
Superior Decks & Railing is expanding its engineering capabilities with a Professional Engineer to lead structural analysis, code compliance, and engineering review for aluminum deck, railing, and miscellaneous metal systems. This onsite role in Hopkins, MN collaborates across engineering, drafting, project management, production, and field teams to deliver technically sound designs and support multi-state projects with licensure across jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and prepare engineering calculations for aluminum deck, railing, and miscellaneous metal systems.
- Review, approve and stamp engineering calculations, details, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with IBC, ASCE 7, ADA requirements, and local jurisdictional codes.
- Support projects across multiple states and jurisdictions.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, design tools, calculation templates, and technical documentation, and assist with in-house testing of existing and new concept products for the company.
- Collaborate with Drafting teams to ensure engineering intent is accurately reflected in construction documents.
- Work with Project Managers to resolve RFIs, field conditions, constructability issues, and technical challenges.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Engineers-in-Training (EITs).
- Support fabrication and installation teams with practical engineering solutions.
- Obtain and maintain additional state engineering licenses as part of the company’s national growth strategy.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of engineering processes, workflows, and quality standards.
Requirements
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in good standing.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of structural analysis, load paths, and building code requirements.
- Experience reviewing engineering documents and calculations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
- Multiple active state P.E. licenses.
- Experience with aluminum structures, guardrails, balconies, decks, stairs, canopies, or miscellaneous metals.
- Experience supporting multifamily, hospitality, student housing, or mixed-use construction projects.
- Familiarity with delegated design and specialty structural systems.

Pay
