Professional Engineer

Recore Electrical Contractors is an employee-owned, multi-state licensed electrical services contractor based just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. In this onsite role in Gastonia, NC, you will support industrial construction projects from early design through commissioning while helping maintain a strong safety culture.

Career opportunity

Recore is seeking an Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) to design, review, and oversee electrical systems for industrial facilities. You will ensure code compliance, prepare and stamp engineering documents as required, and coordinate with project teams across disciplines to keep work moving from concept to startup.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop electrical systems for industrial facilities, including power distribution, motor control, lighting, and instrumentation
• Prepare and review engineering documents such as one-line diagrams, schematics, load calculations, panel schedules, and specifications
• Apply and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards including NFPA 70 / NEC and OSHA, along with local and state requirements
• Provide engineering support to project managers, estimators, and field personnel
• Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions, troubleshoot issues, and verify installations
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and equipment selections
• Stamp/seal engineering documents as required
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, civil, and controls
• Support commissioning, startup, and system testing
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings
• Adhere to safety policies and promote a strong safety culture

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in NC, SC, GA, TN, VA, or FL
• 5-10+ years of experience in industrial electrical design and construction
• Strong knowledge of medium- and low-voltage systems, including MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, and instrumentation
• Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, and SKM Power Tools
• Familiarity with industrial sectors including manufacturing, energy, food processing, or chemical plants
• Ability to interpret and develop technical drawings and specifications

Tools and technologies

AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, instrumentation, NFPA 70 / NEC, OSHA

Preferred skills

• Experience with arc flash studies, short circuit analysis, and coordination studies
• Knowledge of hazardous (classified) locations
• Project management experience is a plus
• Strong communication and leadership skills
