Project Engineer
Job Description
This onsite role in Beaver Falls, NY supports the full lifecycle of water treatment projects for Aries Chemical customers, from concept through startup. The position collaborates with internal teams and vendors while upholding the standards of the A.R.I.E.S. Way.
Responsibilities
- Develop concepts, layouts, equipment selections, and technical solutions for industrial and municipal water treatment systems based on customer needs, site conditions, process requirements, and RFP scope.
- Prepare comprehensive technical proposals in collaboration with Technical Sales and other team members, organizing equipment, fabrication, subcontractor, freight, installation, and related costs to support accurate pricing.
- Prepare and issue RFQs to Aries equipment vendors and subcontractors, review responses, clarify technical details, compare options, and assemble information for cost estimation and proposals.
- Create, maintain, and communicate project schedules for assigned engineering and equipment projects, monitor key deliverables, identify risks, and inform stakeholders of issues.
- Support Aries Technical Sales during customer discussions, site visits, surveys, system evaluations, proposal reviews, and project development activities.
- Conduct customer site surveys to evaluate facilities, treatment systems, equipment, utilities, and installation conditions; translate field information into project requirements.
- Coordinate with fabrication and operations teams to support build, assembly, modification, testing, and delivery of water treatment systems and related equipment.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, controls and PLC providers, installers, and specialty service providers to enable design, implementation, startup, and customer acceptance.
- Provide technical support and on-site supervision during installation, startup, troubleshooting, commissioning, and customer handoff.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation including proposals, scopes of work, drawings, equipment lists, vendor quotations, startup documentation, and customer correspondence.
- Ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in engineering work, project execution, and field activities in line with Aries standards and customer requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of project engineering processes, templates, costing methods, tracking tools, and standard practices.
- Demonstrate alignment with the A.R.I.E.S. Way by owning deliverables, providing reliable support, communicating professionally, expanding technical expertise, and prioritizing safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum of five years of related engineering experience in areas such as project engineering, water treatment, process, manufacturing, industrial, municipal, or equipment design.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to a variety of customer processes, facilities, and treatment applications.
- Proven ability to develop professional technical proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and project documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with cross functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

- License/Certification: Class D (Required).
- Travel willingness: 25 percent (Required).

Travel
Willingness to travel up to 25 percent; travel to customer sites and sales territories is required based on project needs. Approximately 1 to 2 overnight trips per month, with occasional stays up to one week for system startups or commissioning.

Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Equipment and Systems Group Manager or another designated company leader.
Work Environment
Roles are performed in a professional office setting, on customer sites, in production and fabrication areas, and at field installation or startup locations.
Position Details

- Schedule: Monday through Friday, standard business hours with travel flexibility for site work and startups

Training and Development
- Inspection of Aries chemical and equipment systems at customer sites
- Field travel with Aries technical personnel during project development and implementation
- Customer visits with Technical Sales to understand water treatment applications
- Wastewater bench-scale treatability testing
- Boiler water treatment fundamentals and controls
- Cooling water treatment fundamentals and controls
- Wastewater treatment fundamentals, chemistry, and chemical consumption calculations
- Aries proposal, costing, project tracking, and standard work processes
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to customer locations
