Project Engineer
Job Description
Odin Construction Solutions, Inc is seeking a Project Engineer to support field engineering and quality control across active projects. In this primarily onsite role in Eugene, OR, you will provide technical support to the Project Manager and Superintendent while helping drive QC activities, surveying, documentation, and project planning from the site.
Reporting to Project Management, this position includes required onsite work and travel as needed to support projects and offices in multiple locations around the country.
Location & Compensation
- Location: Eugene, OR (onsite)
- Salary: USD 75,000 - 120,000 per year
Education & Experience
- Relevant four-year degree from an accredited university is required
- Fields may include, but are not limited to: Earth and Mineral Sciences, Geology, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering, Technology, Construction Management, Environmental Resources Management, Environmental Engineering, or any environmentally related or construction-related field
- Odin Management will also consider candidates with several years of QC/engineering experience paired with a four-year degree (non-industry related)
Responsibilities
- Provide field engineering and QC support directly on the project
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with technical work, including field engineering, quality control, submittals, bidding, estimating, costing, purchasing materials, and invoicing
- Consult and coordinate QC procedures and the staffing of QC Specialists with the Project Manager

- Implement a site Quality Control program aligned with Odin SOPs, project specifications, and approved work plans
- Develop and implement onsite training for QC personnel
- Manage, interpret, and perform site surveying
- Perform QC testing on projects
- Carry out field engineering activities that may include surveying, as-builts, reading blueprints, and managing REIs
- Use functional computer skills for scheduling, quantities, takeoffs, and calculations (including Microsoft Excel and Word, and digitizer and AutoCAD or other programs)
- Assist the Project Manager with estimating and bidding
- Assist with subcontractor management
- Support submittals, material purchasing, costing, production tracking, and invoicing
- Collaborate with project staff to create strategic action plans and cost estimates for materials, time, labor, and other resources
- Recommend and/or analyze materials, equipment, and practices used on the project
- Assess vendor competence, capabilities, resources, and financial status
- Supervise progress of development projects and compare actual costs to estimates
- Collaborate with design groups to change plans if issues arise
- Analyze equipment, systems, and processes to identify modifications that improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs
- Prepare periodic progress and cost reports for leadership
- Ensure compliance with codes, guidelines, best practices, and policies
- Collaborate with operations to identify and troubleshoot problems
- Coordinate with project engineers from other plans to share issues and solutions

Additional Requirements
- Follow and implement designated QA/QC SOPs and project requirements in the field, and report quality problems to management
- Has authority to stop work if safety and/or QC conflicts arise
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a team-focused mindset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent time management with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing with vendors, management, and coworkers, including group communication
- Regular use of telephone and email is essential
- Extended sitting is common
- Hearing, vision, and speaking within normal ranges are essential
- No heavy lifting expected; occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds may be required
- Good manual dexterity for office equipment such as computers, calculator, copiers, and fax machines
- Ability to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents
- Primarily a site position with required site visits and field project visits, plus travel as needed to offices and projects around the country
- Must be able to stand or walk on a project site for extended durations
- On project sites or during certain activities, must wear required PPE including earplugs, protective eyewear, gloves, hard hat, steel-toed work boots, and high-visibility safety apparel
