Project Engineer

Lead capital project execution for a factory environment, from pre-project approvals through construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Support creation of pre-project approval materials, including project charter, project management plan, project kick start, estimates, and milestone schedules
• Track design progress to ensure deliverables align with established project key components
• Review design team details with full understanding of project deliverables to coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding and field execution
• Select contractors and determine contracting methods
• Direct and execute installation, construction, and commissioning for assigned projects
• Manage project scope adherence and secure approvals for engineering changes using engineering ways of working methodology
• Control project budget by providing cost forecasts and cash flow projections through monthly (or stakeholder-requested) cost and status reporting
• Maintain milestone schedules with integrated detailed scheduling as agreed in the project charter
• Own project data collection and feedback processes
• Monitor compliance with quality and GMP requirements per FDA and OSHA regulations
• Provide construction management and plant startup assistance as needed to support successful execution
• Evaluate, select, and issue contracts for construction firms using bidding and prequalification vetting processes
• Perform end-to-end project management for assigned work with minimal supervision from department managers
• Provide technical support to Factory operations
• Participate in Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Total Performance Management (TPM) within the Business Unit or assigned factory

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering or a related degree (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 1–2 years of project management experience, leading projects of $1M or less
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
• Ability to analyze data
• Use problem-solving techniques to resolve issues and implement change
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, plus strong interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to complete major projects in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to schedule resources effectively
• Basic knowledge in I&I pillar project methods
• Ability to manage Scope, Cost, Schedule, and risks on small and minor projects
