Job Description

Join ELTA North America as a Radar Systems Engineer and help adapt and integrate radar technologies for the U.S. defense market. This hybrid role in Annapolis Junction, MD combines hands-on technical work with collaboration across engineering and field teams, including periodic overseas travel.

What you will do

You will lead the technical adaptation of foreign radar systems for U.S. defense applications, ensuring alignment with U.S. military specifications and standards. The work spans requirements through implementation, validation, and deployment, with ownership of integration and test activities.

  • Lead radar systems adaptation for U.S. defense use, maintaining compliance with U.S. military requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across systems, software, and field service to integrate radar into larger defense platforms.
  • Provide technical expertise across radar system design, integration, testing, and optimization to support performance, reliability, and security.
  • Run radar system simulations, perform performance analysis, and troubleshoot complex issues to improve system effectiveness.
  • Manage system-level design and integration processes from requirements gathering to final implementation, validation, and deployment.
  • Oversee radar testing, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and end-to-end system validation to meet performance and safety criteria.
  • Coordinate with U.S. defense stakeholders to ensure correct integration and alignment with operational requirements.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system architecture, integration plans, test procedures, and user manuals.
  • Conduct technical reviews and contribute to design improvements, system enhancements, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in certification activities to support compliance with U.S. defense regulations and standards.
  • Support deployment by providing technical assistance and troubleshooting during installation and operational setup.
  • Stay current on radar and defense technology developments and U.S. defense regulations, recommending improvements based on industry trends.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, including guidance on technical challenges and best practices.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in radar systems engineering, focused on defense or aerospace applications.
  • Strong knowledge of radar system design, signal processing, RF systems, and performance analysis.
  • Extensive experience with radar integration, testing, and troubleshooting in complex defense environments.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) standards, including military specifications for radar systems.
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated radar solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for international, cross-cultural collaboration.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, including periodic trips to the Middle East for technical collaboration, integration support, and training.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Bonus skills (preferred)

  • Master’s degree.
  • Active U.S. security clearance.
  • Experience with foreign radar systems or international radar system integration projects.
  • Knowledge of radar system cybersecurity standards and best practices in defense systems.
  • Familiarity with advanced radar technologies such as phased array radars, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), or ground-based radar systems.
  • Fluency in Hebrew.

  • Salary: $130,000 - $151,000 per year
