Radiofrequency Engineer
Job Description
Provide RF analysis, simulation, and development support for space-based communication systems, including interoperability integration across multiple US Government customers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct analyses of existing transmitters, receivers, and antenna designs.
- Contribute to requirements and data reviews by providing inputs and comments.
- Support test campaigns in both internal and external laboratories.
- Support and generate RF subsystem trade studies.
- Perform link margin analyses across multiple modulation protocols and environmental influences.
- Write or collaborate on communication system design and analysis reports.
- Lead or support project milestone reviews for customers and stakeholders.
- Participate in technical interchange, planning, review, and other meetings to maintain current knowledge of design, requirements, issues, action items, and resolution activities.
- Perform RF interference and RF compatibility analyses.
- Support organizational management reviews.
- Mentor early-career and internship engineers.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Visual Basic, MathCAD and/or MatLab, ANSYS High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), GPS/GNSS Simulators, and PNT / Communication Waveform Analyzers (BPSK, QAM, QPSK).
- US Citizen status.
- Must hold an active US Secret Security Clearance; option to obtain Top Secret Clearance.
- Degree: Electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university with relevant experience.
- Experience in antenna and RF systems design, test, and evaluation with one of the following minimums:
- Ph.D.: minimum 9+ years experience
- MS: minimum 13+ years experience
- BS: minimum 15+ years experience
- Education/employment experience must align with: Ph.D. / MS / BS in electrical engineering (ABET accredited) with experience.
Work Location and Schedule
- Onsite in Huntsville, AL.
- Normal workday: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Travel: 5% domestic USA.
- Overtime: minimal, up to 10% if needed to meet schedule milestones and support technical demands.

Physical Requirements
- Sitting in meetings with peers, management, and at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%).
- Sitting at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%).
- Ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and company facilities (10%).
Equipment and Machines
- Ability to operate: personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
Other Essential Functions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and exercise good judgment (100%).
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others.
- Regular attendance is required, with adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences.
Compensation
- USD 95,000 - 117,000 yearly salary.
