Job Description

This role places you on Amazon's Security Incident Response Team (SIRT), based onsite in Arlington, Virginia. It focuses on responding to security incidents, analyzing threats, and designing security engineering solutions to protect Amazon systems. The salary range is USD 159,300 to 202,400 per year, and the position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience along with a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate responses to security incidents, aligning actions across multiple Amazon teams to ensure a unified investigation and remediation.
  • Develop and deploy security engineering mitigations during customer-facing incidents, while proactively implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Contribute to pragmatic security solutions that satisfy business requirements while maintaining an acceptable level of risk.
  • Identify enhancements to incident response capabilities and propose practical improvements.
  • Collaborate with and mentor Information Security engineers to strengthen security and rapidly address risk.
  • Assess the impact of current security trends, advisories, publications, and academic research, coordinating responses across affected teams as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the evolving threat landscape and related technologies.
  • Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation to ensure around-the-clock incident coverage.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of hands-on scripting, programming, and security code review in a commonly used programming language.
  • At least two years of troubleshooting system issues, analyzing logs, or automating routine tasks via command line tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or at least two years of IT security experience.
  • Knowledge of industry standard security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques.
