Job Description
Security Foundations is seeking a Security Engineer Lead to scope, design, and advocate security solutions across Meta. This role establishes technical direction across multiple security domains, with an emphasis on cross-domain challenges such as agent identity and authorization, and on presenting clear tradeoffs to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for security solutions and shared platforms across the company, coordinating through Security Engineering, Security Analyst, and Software Engineering teams.
- Identify the highest-risk items across security domains company-wide, then lead the creation of detailed threat models and corresponding solutions.
- Define approaches for how AI agents are identified, authorized, and audited across Meta infrastructure, addressing gaps where neither industry practice nor human-centric models are sufficient.
- Evaluate and navigate tradeoffs between security, friction, and cost to support secure execution at speed.
- Lead solution design, including technical architecture, and drive implementation as needed.
- Develop partnerships across security, infrastructure, corporate engineering, and legal, translating ambiguous business and regulatory requirements into articulated tradeoffs between securing the company and users versus slowing down delivery.
- Present these tradeoffs credibly to senior leadership, including VPs and C-level executives such as the CTO and CISO, to inform decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Deep technical expertise in at least one relevant domain, with a demonstrated ability to become credible quickly in additional domains.
- Substantial experience driving large, cross-company engineering initiatives.
- Experience managing security risk and balancing security with friction in a large organization.
- Experience communicating and influencing across functions to move solutions forward.
- Ability to work in high-ambiguity environments while balancing technical solution design with complex business processes and requirements.
- Hands-on engineering experience, with the ability to lead across a combined Security Engineering and Software Engineering organization.
Technologies
- Active Directory
- Linux
- Windows
- SOX
- SOC 2
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in identity and access management, cryptographic systems, and massively scaled infrastructure.
- Experience securing AI/ML systems or agentic workloads.
- Familiarity with SOX, SOC 2, or comparable control frameworks, including the engineering work required to meet them.
- Experience leading security efforts spanning both production environments (Linux) and corporate environments (Windows, Active Directory, SaaS).
Role Details
- Location: Washington, DC (onsite)
- Compensation: USD 271,000 - 347,000 per year
