Job Description

Granola is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to build and scale a business data foundation that powers reporting and decision-making across the company. This hybrid role in San Francisco, CA blends data engineering and analytics, partnering closely with data, Go-to-Market, and Finance teams.

Compensation: $170,000 - $200,000 per year. Experience: 8+ years.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with the existing data team to ensure the data Granola relies on lands reliably in the warehouse and is available when the business needs it.
  • Design and improve data models aligned with how Granola operates, advancing the dbt modeling layer and producing clean, intuitive datasets for broad use.
  • Raise data quality and reliability through strong practices for testing, monitoring, alerting, and documentation, helping identify issues before they affect end users.
  • Define and codify trusted metrics by working with cross-functional teams to set metric definitions, improve consistency across dashboards and tools, and reduce ambiguity.
  • Create dashboards that support actionable analysis by translating business questions into clear analyses, dashboards, and recommendations.
  • Improve data discoverability and usability by strengthening documentation, naming, and tooling so users can find what they need, understand authoritative sources, and see how entities and systems connect.

What you bring

  • 8+ years of experience across analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence, analytics, or a similar area.
  • Expert SQL skills and substantial hands-on experience building and scaling production data models in dbt.
  • Strong understanding of the modern data stack, including ingestion, transformation, data quality, monitoring, and business intelligence.
  • Experience designing scalable, clean data models that combine information across multiple operational systems.
  • Proven ability to build intuitive dashboards and self-service reporting in modern BI tools such as Omni, Looker, or Tableau.
  • A track record of working through ambiguous business questions to deliver structured analysis, clear conclusions, and recommended actions.
  • Comfort partnering directly with functional leaders and translating business needs into technical requirements.
