Job Description

EF (Education First) is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to join the WoJo Engineering team in Boston, MA (onsite). In this role, you will build and operate the data platform behind customer journey analytics and AI/ML work, turning raw data into trusted datasets, shared metrics, and dependable semantic foundations.

You will work across the full analytics lifecycle, from clarifying ambiguous business questions to modeling, validating, and activating data into the tools EF already uses for marketing, CRM, and advertising.

What you’ll do

  • Translate ambiguous business questions into trusted data products, including modeled datasets, metric definitions, and documentation usable by analysts, product, and business partners.
  • Design and evolve EF’s semantic layer so the same definitions support dashboards, self-serve analysis, and LLM-driven analytics.
  • Build and own dbt models that transform raw data into well-tested analytical datasets, with business logic defined once and reused across brands.
  • Model Google Analytics (GA4) and other digital analytics into datasets marketing and product can trust, covering sessions, events, and on-site behavior joined to how travelers discover, consider, and book a tour.
  • Partner with analysts and stakeholders to shape the question before building, and clearly flag when a request cannot yet be supported as written.
  • Activate trusted data into existing business tools using reverse ETL (Hightouch) and the product catalogs that power advertising and personalization channels.
  • Convert recurring questions into self-serve outputs by providing clear metrics, semantic models, and lightweight AI-assisted workflows, while staying accountable for definitions and results.
  • Embed data quality into every delivery through automated tests, monitoring, and explicit ownership of the numbers.
  • Set the modeling and review bar for your domain and mentor engineers and analysts as they work toward it.
  • Contribute to the analytical layer roadmap, including investment areas for shared models, enablement of self-serve, and which questions deserve durable data products.
  • Own work from unclear problem to trusted data product in production, with early discovery involvement and candid feedback loops.
  • Maintain a quality-first approach with clean models, thoughtful reviews, and documentation others can rely on.
  • Use AI tools to work smarter, and build definitions and semantic foundations that enable teammates and agents to use them effectively.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of experience owning analytical data products used for decision-making (typically analytics engineering, analytics, or a closely related data role).
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on modeling experience in a cloud data warehouse, with Snowflake preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt (dbt Core and/or dbt Cloud), including models, tests, and documentation extended by other people.
  • Experience defining shared metrics or a semantic layer that reporting, self-serve, or AI tools depend on.
  • A track record of partnering with analysts and business stakeholders, including reframing requests around the decision they are meant to inform.
  • Experience mentoring, reviewing, or raising the bar for other engineers or analysts.
  • Working proficiency in Python for data tooling and automation.
