Job Description

E Tech Group is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to support process automation engineering and system integration across the full lifecycle, from early concepts and design through implementation, testing, startup, and training. In this hybrid role based in Plymouth, MA, you will collaborate with project teams to deliver continuous and batch control applications, while also serving as an automation subject matter expert.

Working across design, configuration, and testing, you will help translate project needs into working control system solutions and provide high-priority technical advisement to support customer satisfaction. You will also contribute to planning and execution by helping coordinate schedules and budgets, identifying change orders, and supporting completion of deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or support project teams responsible for the design, configuration, and testing of continuous and batch control applications.
  • Review project scope and financials, exercising strong time management by planning and coordinating work as part of the project team, including developing project schedules and budgets with project leadership.
  • Identify change orders and justify changes to Project Management to help ensure all deliverables are completed to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Anticipate needs and provide solutions to project leadership and/or customers, placing high priority on customer satisfaction with strong technical expertise and advisement.
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule and travel, if necessary, to participate in design, development, and start-up activities of control systems at the client’s facility.
  • Act as an automation Subject Matter Expert.

Requirements

  • PLC programming experience using Rockwell Studio5000 and RSLogix5000.
  • 5+ years executing automation projects for process plants, preferably within the Life Sciences domain.
  • BS Engineering degree or equivalent educational background.
  • Detail oriented with strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn new technologies.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to Instrumentation and Controls.
  • Working knowledge of ISA S88 Batch standard.
  • Working knowledge of ISA S95 Controls System Architecture standard.
  • Knowledge of GAMP 5 & cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop process control system applications using Siemens PLC, WinCC Unified Scada, LAB-X, PAS-X, and Aveva PI Historian.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented software development and delivery methodologies.
  • Expertise with the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of virtual server-based control system architectures, including understanding control system network topology (Ethernet, Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.).
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation specification, installation and troubleshooting, and control panel design, check-out, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on ability to rapidly troubleshoot and resolve equipment and instrument-related issues during start-up and commissioning, and to perform complex system testing.
  • Experience working at customer sites supporting installation and commissioning of equipment and systems.
  • A DNA comprised of collaboration and teamwork.
