Senior Control Systems Engineer
Job Description
Thermo Systems LLC is seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer for an onsite role in Indiana.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor teammates during system start‑up and commissioning activities
- Read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams as well as wiring diagrams; provide field feedback comparing conditions to drawings
- Apply advanced knowledge of HMI and PLC applications
- Support the maintenance of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS)
- Understand migration paths and upgrades for legacy control systems
- Independently design complex control systems
- Define instrumentation specifications for intricate control architectures
- Value engineer specifications to achieve cost effective solutions
- Lead detailed design of complex IT systems, network infrastructure, and computer system designs as they relate to control system integration
- Design sophisticated HMI systems
- Author complex design documents
- Communicate effectively, positively, and proactively with customers
- Follow customer site standards and procedures
- Maintain professional business conduct at all times
- Deliver excellent customer care and support; be patient, attentive, and responsive
- Follow up and honor commitments with customers
- Understand and address customer needs; provide recommendations to enhance them
- Complete assigned tasks accurately, on schedule, and within budget
- Lead individual tasks or entire projects, owning successful completion on time and within budget
- Serve as the customer’s main contact on assigned projects when acting as lead
- Identify changes in project scope and respond accordingly
- Provide support on other projects or tasks led by colleagues
- Manage and delegate tasks to meet schedule and budget requirements
- Understand and anticipate customer needs; estimate task duration and complexity
- Ensure the team adheres to realistic schedules and budgets
- Seek opportunities for additional work with customers and contractors
- Where appropriate, guide junior staff on construction, operations, and maintenance tasks at project sites
- Network across the company to achieve project objectives
- Execute work efficiently and adapt to team strengths and gaps
- Willing to take on less desirable tasks to support the team
- Commit to ongoing technical and leadership development
- Actively participate in company trainings and trade shows to showcase expertise
- Overnight travel may be required up to 50 percent
- On-call rotation participation may be required depending on location and client needs
- Provide proof of eligibility to work in the position’s country
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
- Maintain fitness for duty at all times
- Pursue new business through project change orders, additional services, and referrals to drive financial success

Requirements
- Lead, train, and mentor teammates during system start-up and commissioning
- Expertise in reading P&ID and wiring diagrams with the ability to provide field feedback against drawings
- Proficiency with HMI and PLC applications
- Experience contributing to a Quality Management System (QMS)
- Strong understanding of migration paths and upgrades for legacy control systems
- Ability to independently design complex control systems
- Provide instrumentation specifications for complex control systems
- Value engineer specifications to deliver cost-effective solutions
- Lead detailed IT, network, and computer system designs related to control integration
- Proven capability in designing complex HMI systems
- Ability to author detailed design documents
