Senior Controls Engineer
Job Description
ATS Global is hiring a Senior Controls Engineer to lead automation projects across design, commissioning, and ongoing support in a hybrid setup based in Statesville, NC.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical leader on complex automation projects, working directly with customers and internal teams
- Lead controls and automation work from concept/design through commissioning and support
- Design and develop PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial automation solutions
- Program, troubleshoot, test, and commission manufacturing control systems
- Develop control hardware designs and electrical panel layouts
- Integrate robotics and machine vision systems
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
- Maintain quality, technical excellence, and on-time delivery for project execution
- Collaborate with customers to resolve challenging manufacturing automation problems
Requirements
- Experience leading technically challenging automation projects from design through startup
- Strong technical leadership with opportunities to mentor junior engineers
- Extensive hands-on experience implementing PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions
- Working understanding of industrial safety standards and regulations, including NEC, NFPA 79, UL, OSHA, and related requirements
- Comfort working in technically challenging manufacturing environments
- Ability to independently lead projects and make sound engineering decisions
- Enjoyment of mentoring and sharing technical expertise
- Proven industrial automation experience across major platforms, including:
- Siemens PLC/HMI platforms
- Rockwell / Allen-Bradley
- Schneider Electric
- GE and other major PLC platforms
- SCADA systems
- Industrial networking
- Robotics integration
- Machine vision systems

- Compensation: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
