Job Description

Based in Reston, VA onsite, the Senior Data Analytics Engineer will design, build, and support scalable analytical data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, collaborating with business partners and technical peers.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement dimensional schemas featuring fact tables and slowly changing dimensions to enable analytics, reporting, and downstream data use.
  • Build and sustain data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric for ingestion, transformation, and modeling, applying a medallion (Bronze, Silver, Gold) architecture.
  • Develop and maintain data transformations with SQL, SparkSQL, PySpark, and Python inside Fabric Notebooks.
  • Apply solid database design and data-modeling practices to deliver performant, reliable analytics solutions.
  • Implement ML and AI capabilities using tools in the Microsoft Fabric and Foundry ecosystems, with guidance for more advanced scenarios.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to elicit requirements, clarify needs, and translate them into practical data solutions.
  • Engage in Git-based version control and CI/CD workflows per team practices.
  • Adhere to data governance, security, and compliance standards in the design and delivery of data, ML, and AI solutions.
  • Contribute to team-wide documentation, data standards, and reusable design patterns.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing pipelines, data models, and notebooks to boost reliability and performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data and analytics engineering.
  • Extensive SQL proficiency and dimensional modeling expertise, including fact and dimension tables and slowly changing dimensions.
  • Proficiency in Python, PySpark, SparkSQL; hands-on work with Fabric Notebooks.
  • Practical experience delivering end-to-end solutions within a medallion architecture (Bronze-Silver-Gold), covering ingestion, transformation, and modeling.
  • Experience with machine learning and AI concepts, including implementation in Fabric or comparable platforms.
  • Git-based source control experience in collaborative development environments.
  • Understanding of data governance and security practices for analytics and data platforms.
  • Ability to engage with customers, interpret business questions, and deliver practical, high-quality data solutions.
