Job Description

Senior Data Engineer for a higher education client in Denton, TX, on a contract-to-hire basis with hybrid work.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and sustain enterprise data warehouses, operational data stores, data marts, and data lake architectures.
  • Develop scalable cloud and hybrid data platforms leveraging Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and related Oracle technologies.
  • Create both logical and physical data models to support analytics, reporting, and enterprise data needs.
  • Architect and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Oracle Integration Cloud, SnapLogic, SSIS, PL/SQL, and T-SQL.
  • Facilitate integrations across ERP, HCM, SIS, CRM, LMS, and third-party SaaS systems.
  • Build and support API driven, REST, SOAP, SFTP, file-based, batch, near real-time, and event-driven integrations.
  • Ensure data quality, reconciliation, validation, exception handling, and performance optimization.
  • Support analytics and reporting with Power BI, Oracle Analytics Cloud, or similar SQL-based tools.
  • Create curated datasets, semantic models, dashboards, KPI structures, and reporting views.
  • Monitor data pipelines, platform health, data processing, system performance, and integration workflows.
  • Contribute to cloud security, encryption, auditing, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery practices.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, process flows, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with both technical and functional stakeholders across the organization.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, enterprise data warehousing, ETL development, analytics engineering, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise data warehouses, ODS, data marts, data lakes, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises enterprise data ecosystems.
  • Strong SQL experience, including Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server T-SQL, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, SQL query optimization, schema design, and data modeling.
  • Experience building and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud and integration platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Integration Cloud, SnapLogic, SSIS, REST/SOAP APIs, SFTP, or file-based integrations.
  • Experience with analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Oracle Analytics Cloud, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Must pass a CJIS-compliant background check upon hire.
