Job Description
Senior Electrical Engineer at Franklin Engineering Group, Inc. leads instrumentation and controls design for industrial and chemical process projects from concept through construction and startup, onsite in Franklin, TN.
Responsibilities
- Lead instrumentation and controls engineering on industrial and chemical process projects from concept through startup.
- Review and maintain P&IDs, ensuring accurate tagging and specification of all measurement and control devices.
- Create and document process control architectures (PLC, DCS, SCADA), including control narratives, cause-and-effect matrices, and logic diagrams.
- Specify and apply field instrumentation for hazardous and general areas, including flow, level, pressure, temperature, analyzers, control valves, and actuators.
- Develop instrument loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, termination drawings, and instrument data sheets.
- Design motor control solutions, VFDs, and integration of equipment with control systems.
- Contribute to process hazard analyses and control system design reviews.
- Prepare contractor scope of work packages, technical specifications, and construction support documentation.
- Provide construction support, commissioning, and startup assistance for instrumentation and control systems as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 8 to 10+ years of progressive experience in controls and instrumentation design for chemical, petrochemical, or industrial facilities.
- Strong expertise in interpreting and developing P&IDs, control strategies, and instrumentation specifications.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project execution skills.
