Senior Electrical Engineer
Job Description
Senior Electrical Engineer role at NAES Corporation focused on technical leadership for electrical systems across large-scale power generation projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review electrical system concepts, including single-line diagrams, power distribution architectures, and HV/MV system configurations
- Perform and/or review power system studies: load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, grounding, and related analyses
- Define technical requirements and specifications for transformers, switchgear, MCCs, protective relays, cables, inverters, BESS, and generator electrical systems
- Review EPC engineering deliverables, including SLDs, protection and control schematics, cable schedules, grounding designs, calculations, and IFC drawings
- Create and manage technical requisitions; evaluate vendor proposals and review equipment documentation
- Support FATs and resolve vendor technical issues
- Provide electrical support during construction: RFIs, field issues, inspections, QA/QC, punch lists, and equipment installation support
- Develop and review commissioning, testing, and energization plans; support SATs, relay testing, system energization, grid synchronization, and performance testing
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, controls, EPC, utility, and other project teams to ensure electrical integration throughout execution
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of HV/MV power distribution, protection systems, electrical equipment, grounding, and grid integration
- Experience with power system analysis software such as ETAP, PSCAD, or similar tools
- Working knowledge of IEEE, IEC, NEC, and applicable utility interconnection requirements
- Experience producing and reviewing detailed electrical engineering and IFC-level design deliverables
- Knowledge of electrical construction practices, QA/QC, commissioning, testing, and energization
- Ability to travel approximately 25%
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience supporting power generation, energy, or large industrial power systems
- Experience supporting the full project lifecycle: conceptual design, FEED, EPC execution, construction, commissioning, and energization
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related discipline (required)
- Experience with EPC, Owner’s Engineer, construction, and/or commissioning (preferred)
- PE license or ability to obtain one (preferred)
