Senior Engineer position in Morenci, AZ supporting engineering projects for Freeport-McMoRan’s operations.

Review, investigate, and develop recommendations for assigned engineering projects
Manage projects and act as a subject matter expert (SME) for large or complex site planning, construction, expansions, and modifications
Provide guidance to site management on processes, practices, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
Support site strategic planning and budgeting for designated engineering areas
Develop and evaluate AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests
May evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for services and equipment
May represent the site on company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams
Perform other duties as required

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and 5 years of related experience in Engineering or a related field, OR Master’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and 3 years of related experience in Engineering or a related field
Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions
Experience managing large or complex engineering projects
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Skill in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

Morenci, Arizona (onsite), approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford on U.S. Highway 191
Open-pit copper mining complex operating continuously since 1939
Operations include: two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system, four SX plants, and three EW tank houses producing copper cathode
