Senior Fiber Optic Module Packaging Engineer position based in Sunnyvale, CA, onsite at Coherent Corp.

Design and develop multi-fiber module packaging for fiber optic devices and modules, covering enclosure, fiber mounting, connections, and sealing.
Perform packaging design simulations and analyses to meet operating conditions, including vibration, shock, and environmental testing.
Select materials considering thermal stability, mechanical strength, and thermal expansion; identify vendors for components.
Develop specifications that satisfy performance requirements while achieving cost targets.
Create manufacturing fixtures and inspection processes; conduct reliability and qualification testing to verify module performance and reliability.
Release designs to manufacturing and lead the transfer of designs to production.
Provide ongoing technical support and failure analysis.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in telecommunications, optomechanical engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
At least 2 years of related experience.
Familiar with telecom fibers, cables, connectors, epoxies, and sealing mechanisms.
Ability to work independently on mechanical designs using SolidWorks and other software.
Capacity to work with minimal supervision and manage assigned tasks and projects effectively.
Strong ability to read, learn, and analyze complex materials and processes; search for solutions and develop innovative approaches.
Resourceful problem-solver who applies knowledge and experience to develop solutions.
Proactive in locating and collaborating with external suppliers to engage additional capabilities for project tasks.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects concurrently.
Willingness and ability to mentor and train colleagues within the work group.
Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and email; capable of developing tools or simple applications using these tools.

Attend scheduled trainings and follow site EHS procedures and Corporate EHS standards.
Use proper PPE as required by the job responsibilities.
Management ensures safety and environmental procedures are followed, risk assessments are performed, training and work instructions are provided, required PPE is available, and compliance is monitored.

Depending on location, may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
