Senior Front End Software Engineer, React
Job Description
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Front End Software Engineer with strong React experience to help build mission-critical tools for strategic defense command and control. This onsite role in Washington, DC involves owning front end decisions for a team of 30+ engineers and delivering end-to-end systems that support missile defense mission planning, execution, networking, and remote asset management.
Role Focus
In the Strategic Defense organization, you will extend Lattice OS to address customer needs across complex asset command and control, missile defense mission workflows, networking, and remote asset management in far-edge environments. The team is focused on software-defined command and control that can see, decide, and act faster than a human operator alone, operating against ballistic, hypersonic, and air-breathing threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop tools and capabilities that extend Lattice OS to solve unique customer problems in command and control of complex assets, mission planning and execution, networking, and remote asset management in far-edge environments.
- Collaborate with customers, product designers, and engineering teams to shape and build new software products and applications, optimizing for maximum end-user value.
- Build, test, deploy, and demonstrate mission-critical code through a tight feedback loop with end users.
- Travel up to 25% to participate in customer events and deploy capabilities in real-world scenarios.
- Contribute to the development of existing Anduril software services, with emphasis on reusable components that support success across multiple product lines.
Required Qualifications
- Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in areas such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
- Proficiency with web technologies, specifically React and TypeScript.
- Ability to empathize with end users, translating needs into features while balancing user experience with engineering constraints.
- Experience building real-time user interfaces using reactive programming libraries, such as ReactJS or similar.
- Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
- Interest in working on critical software with real-world impact.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Technologies
- React
- TypeScript
- ReactJS
Team and Mission Context
- The Strategic Defense team protects the United States and its allies from ballistic, hypersonic, and air-breathing threats.
- These threats arrive in seconds, maneuver mid-flight, and come in volleys designed to overwhelm legacy systems.
- The team is building a software-defined command and control layer for faster sensing, decision-making, and action.
- The team spans autonomy, tracking, simulation and wargaming, hardware, systems engineering, and test and evaluation to build an accredited fire control system fielded rapidly and at scale.
- The team is also incubating and maturing AI-native offerings for integrated air and missile defense.
