Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full‑stack software within an Agile product team.
- Build modern web applications and backend services that power claims experiences and operational workflows.
- Develop scalable APIs, microservices, and event‑driven integrations using Java / Spring Boot and cloud‑native patterns.
- Craft responsive frontend applications with JavaScript or TypeScript and frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
- Architect and implement AWS based solutions with services like Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS / DynamoDB, SQS / SNS, Step Functions, CloudWatch, IAM, and container platforms such as ECS / EKS.
- Create and maintain secure APIs and integrations aligned with enterprise standards.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization patterns leveraging enterprise identity solutions.
- Design, optimize, and troubleshoot data models and application data flows across relational and cloud‑native stores.
- Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for production issues to improve reliability, resilience, and performance.
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and related automation, testing, and quality tooling.
- Improve observability through tools like Datadog and Splunk with dashboards, alerts, metrics, logs, and tracing.
- Participate in discovery, estimation, technical design, story writing, and documentation.
- Contribute to engineering best practices around code quality, testing, automation, and operational readiness.
- Mentor engineers and help raise team standards and execution across initiatives.
Requirements
- Own medium‑to‑large features end to end, including design, implementation, testing strategy, and production readiness.
- Lead troubleshooting and performance tuning for applications and databases.
- Drive API and integration work with emphasis on patterns such as Apigee and identity/security considerations.
- Elevate engineering practices in CI/CD, test automation, and code quality while mentoring others.
- Ensure observability, deployment discipline, resiliency, and developer productivity standards across teams.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, and security stakeholders; communicate trade‑offs clearly.
- Mentor team members and uphold High‑Performing Engineering standards within the group.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals: clean code, testing, debugging, and thoughtful design.
- Experience integrating systems via APIs and adhering to enterprise security, logging, and monitoring standards.
- Ability to work in Agile teams using modern delivery practices and iterate toward continuous improvement.
- Effective communication and collaboration; capable of documenting and explaining technical decisions.
- Experience or openness to AI assisted development tools (for example GitHub Actions Copilot or similar).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated ability to design, develop, and support production applications.
- Proven track record delivering across frontend, backend, API, cloud, and operational concerns in enterprise settings with security, monitoring, and reliability standards.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices.
