Mastercard’s Digital Enablement Services (MDES) Quality Engineering team is building quality engineering solutions that support tokenization, digital payments, and emerging payment technologies across the full software development lifecycle. In this onsite role in O’Fallon, MO, you’ll design, develop, automate, and execute end-to-end quality engineering capabilities while working closely with cross-functional partners to deliver customer-focused software.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software applications, services, and APIs.
- Contribute to software architecture and technical design decisions focused on scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Build and enhance microservices and distributed systems supporting Mastercard’s technology ecosystem.
- Write high-quality, reusable code using engineering best practices and established coding standards.
- Participate in requirements reviews, solution design discussions, sprint planning, and technical refinement activities.
- Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to strengthen quality and maintainability.
- Apply secure coding practices and engineering standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain automated tests that support application quality and reliability.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and engineering automation to help accelerate delivery.
- Analyze logs, troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, resiliency, and operational readiness.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Platform, and Quality teams to deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
- Help drive continuous improvement by contributing to technical standards and engineering best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, innovation-focused engineering culture.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools and solutions to improve productivity and software quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise applications and services.
- Strong programming skills in Java and object-oriented design principles.
- Strong knowledge of Java, Spring, JUnit, Eclipse IDE, Rest Assured, and JBehave/Cucumber frameworks.
- Experience with databases such as Oracle and APIs including REST/SOAP.
- Experience with Continuous Delivery concepts and tools such as Jenkins/Bamboo.
- Experience with vulnerability tools such as Sonar and Checkmarx/Fortify.
- Experience with XP, TDD, and BDD and relevant architecture patterns.
- Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications.
- Knowledge of software design patterns, architecture principles, and distributed system concepts.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Hands-on experience with Maven, Git, Jenkins, and modern software development tools.
- Experience with SQL and data management concepts.
- Understanding of CI/CD practices and Agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and software security fundamentals.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
