Senior Industrial Engineer

In this on-site Senior Industrial Engineer position, you will own the production schedule, maximize spindle utilization across multi-axis mills and lathes, and ensure aerospace quality and traceability. This role requires seven plus years of industrial engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree, with a focus on driving throughput and validating labor standards and routings within the factory.
Responsibilities
- Analyze sequences of operations and workflows to maximize efficiency, shorten cycle times, and eliminate waste.
- Develop labor hour estimates using time studies, historical data, and operational analysis to support production scheduling.
- Design plant layouts, establish material flow, and balance production lines to optimize facility and equipment utilization.
- Manage headcount planning and assess personnel requirements relative to operational demands and shifts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement plans that improve production execution, including capacity planning and defect reductions.
- Lead continuous improvement workshops and problem-solving teams to enhance product flow and reduce production costs.
- Develop models, databases, and spreadsheets to analyze data and deliver metrics, reports, and performance updates to leadership.
- Track and report metrics such as machine utilization, capacity planning, MTBF, queue time reduction, bottleneck recovery, and setup time reduction.
- Ensure all work processes comply with regulatory standards, safety policies, and ergonomic guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of industrial engineering experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment; strong preference for experience in a job shop with build-to-print, custom fabrications, and large components.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States; ITAR requires U.S. person status for access to certain information and hardware.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and capacity planning.
- Ability to apply factory simulation and process flow methodologies to model operations, diagnose bottlenecks, and optimize throughput, cycle time, and cost.
- Ability to interpret ERP/MRP outputs and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a high-pressure, collaborative environment.
- Strong presentation and communication skills for cross-functional interactions and large-group settings.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills; meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and ERP systems; Epicor experience is preferred. Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting are required.
