Senior Machine Learning Engineer

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer on the Sourcing team at Indeed will design, build, and deploy ML and AI solutions in production to enhance automated outreach and the Sourcing product. This role collaborates with cross-functional partners and contributes to the reliability of LLM based operations in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end ML and AI initiatives, including prompt development and evaluation, model training, building LLM as a Judge capabilities, and creating recommendation and ranking systems
• Improve LLM and machine learning models, scale them in production, and conduct iterative A/B testing to enhance the Sourcing product
• Assess potential business impact of AI and ML and balance delivery velocity with investments in robust infrastructure
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, Product managers, and UX designers/researchers
• Define and implement evaluation, observability, and production monitoring approaches for ML and LLM-based systems
• Serve as a trusted partner across teams, translating technical concepts to facilitate productive collaboration
• Mentor other ML Engineers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers on the team

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics with a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience; or a PhD with no experience
• Proven success deploying impactful ML and/or LLM-based solutions to large-scale production systems
• Solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Demonstrated ownership and accountability as a key contributor in technical and product domains
• Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks, LLM observability tools, and prompt optimization techniques (eg, GEPA)
• Knowledge of and practical experience with deep learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow and modern ML/LLM tooling
• Understanding of modern ML system design, including evaluation, experimentation, and production monitoring for predictive and LLM-based systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication, effective with technical and business audiences

You will work with a cross-functional product team to drive value and enhance customer experiences for the Sourcing product, which connects employers with talent through AI. The Senior MLE will focus on improving automated outreach quality, building agentic experiences, and strengthening LLMOps reliability and infrastructure.
