Job Description
Senior Principal Battery Systems Engineer role at BAE Systems Inc. focused on propulsion battery systems for conventional aircraft, helicopters, and Advanced Air Mobility vehicles (onsite in Endicott, NY).
Responsibilities
- Develop, allocate, and manage complex system, hardware, and software requirements
- Research and develop safety-critical, high-power battery system designs and system architectures
- Define hardware, software, and programmable logic interfaces, including associated functionality
- Prepare and review documentation supporting system design and architecture
- Support system and product integration activities
- Verify and validate complex elements of system designs to confirm conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements
Requirements
- B.S. in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (minimum)
- 8+ years experience designing, architecting, and integrating battery systems, with emphasis on high-power and/or safety-critical applications
- Demonstrated experience integrating battery systems into vehicles or high-level power system architectures
- Experience across the full lifecycle: system requirements, design, system-level integration, validation, and verification
- Technical writing skills to create and maintain engineering documentation
- Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership
- Experience developing and architecting SOC, SOP, SOH, and SOE models and validating them at the model level
- Knowledge of high-voltage electrical power system design, battery management system designs, and thermal management for energy storage systems
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Master’s Degree in a related engineering field
- Experience developing formal validation and verification procedures
- Knowledge of commercial and military certification objectives and activities
- Working knowledge of model-based development of systems and/or software
- Demonstrated experience testing batteries and power systems
- Demonstrated experience deploying battery systems for safety-critical applications
- Knowledge of ARP-4754A, ARP-4761, DO-311A, and FAA TSO process
Compensation
- USD 120,874 - 205,486 per year
