Senior Product Design & Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
Lead end-to-end product design, development, and production support for innovative hardware, coordinating manufacturing partners, quality, and IP activities.
Responsibilities
- Design new products and improve existing products using SolidWorks CAD software
- Develop engineering solutions focused on performance, manufacturability, safety, and cost
- Ensure products meet applicable industry regulations and standards
- Convert concepts into production-ready designs in collaboration with manufacturing partners
- Create detailed product specifications and product documentation
- Review prototypes, first articles, and production samples for quality and compliance
- Lead supplier quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Analyze manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective actions
- Identify, evaluate, and develop domestic and international manufacturing partners
- Act as primary technical contact for suppliers during product development and production
- Resolve manufacturing, process, quality, and cost challenges throughout production
- Coordinate third-party product testing and support certification when required
- Conduct patent research during product development
- Collaborate with patent attorneys to support filings and documentation
- Monitor competitive products for potential intellectual property considerations
- Provide technical expertise to internal teams and customers
- Troubleshoot field and production issues
- Investigate design and manufacturing failures to improve future products
- Support sales with technical presentations and product expertise at trade shows when needed
Requirements
- Several years of experience designing physical products that have been successfully manufactured and sold
- SolidWorks (or strong proficiency with CAD software)
- Experience designing products using plastics, metals, and production assemblies
- Experience working directly with manufacturers and suppliers
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, injection molding, fabrication, and assembly
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Excellent problem-solving and project management skills
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

- $90,000 - $125,000 per year, offer depending on experience
