Job Description

This onsite role in Carnegie, PA leads the delivery of water and wastewater capital projects and may supervise consulting engineers, contractors, technicians, and CAD operators as needed to move initiatives from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage water and wastewater engineering projects from inception through completion, ensuring on schedule delivery within scope and budget.
  • Establish project budget and scope.
  • Develop detailed project plans, designs, and specifications for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pipelines, treatment plants, and pumping stations.
  • Serve as a competent technical resource on Water and Wastewater System matters to support operations and business needs.
  • Assist with multiple small to medium size projects and perform varied engineering assignments related to planning, design or construction.
  • Translate technical information into feasible and effective engineering approaches.
  • Support the selection of consulting and construction organizations for projects using negotiation or competitive selection processes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering design theory and practice.
  • Familiarity with project management, construction and contract management, water and wastewater facilities, and utility operations.
  • Knowledge of current trends in water quality and treatment and other aspects of the water industry.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulatory requirements and trends impacting the water industry.
  • Sound business acumen and judgment.
  • Effective quantitative and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including report writing, listening, and presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, persuasion, teamwork, cooperation, leadership, and the ability to motivate others.
  • Financial analysis skills, including budget management, business modeling, and basic accounting knowledge.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience in engineering design, planning, construction, project delivery and/or project management.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 20 percent of time, as required

Work Environment

Primarily office-based with occasional field work at water and wastewater facilities to perform site investigations and participate in on-site project kick-off and review meetings.
