Senior Project Engineer

Leonardo DRS is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead engineering efforts for complex project(s) with a focus on delivering results on time and within budget. In this onsite role in Frederick, MD 21703, you will help ensure design compliance, support proposal development, and coordinate technical progress across multiple stakeholders.

What you’ll do

• Lead all engineering efforts for complex project(s) to meet schedule and budget commitments
• Ensure design compliance with all applicable project requirements
• Review customer specifications and requirements, then lead teams to develop designs that best support them, with cost as a key design variable
• Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments
• Communicate clearly, both in writing and orally, with manufacturing, supply chain, program management, and the customer as needed
• Participate heavily in preparation of more complex and significant proposals
• Coordinate technical activities and progress through interaction with technical management, professionals, technicians, and support personnel
• Lead one or more project teams as assigned
• Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the organization’s mission, values, and culture
• Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings
• Mentor and coach less experienced engineers
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Master’s degree in engineering or related technical field and 10+ years of experience
• Mastery of technologies and domain knowledge
• Expected knowledge and experience across multiple engineering disciplines
• Ability to independently lead a team of engineers to complete complex project(s)
• U.S. citizenship required
• Active DoD security clearance or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time after employment begins
