Job Description

This onsite role in Marietta, Ohio places you at the heart of cold storage and ultra-low temperature technology, where you will collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and controls teams to design and mature cascade refrigeration systems. You will drive development, validation, and roadmap contributions across multiple product platforms while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Location: Marietta, OH onsite. Travel is limited to up to 10 percent domestically. Relocation support may be available.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and engineer cascade vapor‑compression refrigeration systems for ultra‑low temperature freezers and cold storage platforms.
  • Create specifications for system level, subsystem, and component performance.
  • Plan and execute tests to validate new refrigeration designs using reliability tools and performance sensitivity analyses.
  • Engineer solutions that meet customer requirements, align with time‑to‑market commitments, and stay within target project costs.
  • Develop modular, scalable, and reusable refrigeration architectures across multiple product platforms.
  • Analyze thermal behavior with thermo‑physical tools to guide component selection and overall system design.
  • Perform design trade studies using modeling and empirical data to optimize performance and energy use.
  • Contribute to advanced development initiatives to mature next generation refrigeration technologies.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers during technology development.
  • Advance technology readiness levels of innovative technologies prior to new product development introduction.
  • Partner with manufacturing and operations to ensure designs are designed for assembly and manufacturing.
  • Contribute to roadmaps for components, subsystems, and systems.
  • Complete verification activities to ensure traceability to customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure designs comply with regulatory and certification requirements such as UL, IEC, FDA, CE, CSA, and Energy Star.
  • Engage in a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Travel up to 10 percent domestically as needed.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of hands‑on experience developing vapor‑compression systems for cold storage or HVAC/R products, cascade systems preferred.
  • Experience applying natural refrigerants and other low GWP refrigerants in system designs.
  • Proficiency in thermal system modeling, simulation, and performance testing.
  • Experience analyzing empirical test data to guide design decisions.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems, automated testing, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of Lean and continuous improvement methodologies (PPI).
