Job Description
David Joseph & Company is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to support a growth-stage, AI-native go-to-market platform. This hybrid role is based in San Francisco, with ownership of end-to-end distributed systems and the AI-native agent systems that power large-scale operations.
Location and Work Setup
- Location: San Francisco, CA
- Work mode: Hybrid, 3 days per week on-site
- Employment type: Full-time
Compensation
- Base salary: USD 170,000 to 311,000 per year
- Equity: Included
- Visa sponsorship: Open to visa transfers (for example, OPT, H-1B transfers)
Responsibilities
- Own significant systems and features end-to-end, including design, production delivery, and day-to-day operation
- Build and operate large-scale distributed systems, selecting and combining technologies that fit the problem
- Work through hard and ambiguous problems to reach shipped outcomes while owning reliability, performance, and cost
- Build AI-native agent systems used at scale
Requirements
- Experience: 5–8 years in backend or full-stack engineering with a focus on large-scale distributed systems
- Startup or early-stage exposure: Hands-on experience at a startup, an AI-native company, or in an early or founding-engineer environment
- Operating ownership: Demonstrated track record owning and operating high-scale distributed systems (100K+ users)
- Scope growth: Clear career progression with increasing scope and responsibility
- System design: Strong system-design capabilities for large-scale data and distributed systems
- Background and context: Currently at (or recently from) a well-regarded, high-growth engineering organization, with a strong database background or experience building LLM-powered systems
- Technical comfort: Comfortable working across Ruby/Rails, Python, and MongoDB or Elasticsearch
- Location and availability: Based in the SF Bay Area and able to work hybrid, three days per week on-site
