Senior Software Engineer

You will join a small Agile team focused on productionizing machine learning applications and systems at scale, with ownership across backend services, reliability, and delivery practices.

The Senior Software Engineer role is based in Midvale, UT (hybrid) and supports a workflow that blends engineering practice with hands-on delivery. You will design, build, and maintain production systems, help establish engineering standards, and support CI/CD, reliability, and container-based deployments.

Responsibilities

• Establish and evolve the team’s engineering practice, including SDLC, CI/CD, testing, and containerization.
• Design, build, and operate reliable, scalable backend services and APIs.
• Define reliability targets for production systems and design services to meet those targets.
• Make and document architectural decisions that balance reliability, maintainability, and project timelines.
• Set team standards for code review, testing, branching, release management, and documentation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, environments, and container-based deployment practices.
• Collaborate on a cross-functional Agile team and mentor teammates on production engineering practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and operating production services.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python, Java, Go, or Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of API design and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and container-based deployment using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience instrumenting production services with metrics, structured logging, tracing, and alerting using tools such as Splunk or Grafana.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to machine learning systems or ML infrastructure.
• Experience with streaming platforms like Kafka.
• Experience with workflow orchestration or data platforms such as Airflow, Databricks, or Spark.
• Experience in financial services or other regulated environments.
• Experience with GCP and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
