Senior Software Engineer - Tech Lead (AWS, Databricks, SQL)

The Travelers Companies, Inc. seeks a Senior Software Engineer and Tech Lead to oversee end-to-end software engineering across multiple systems, providing technical leadership and user-focused consulting. The role centers on AWS technologies, Databricks, and SQL to design, develop, test, and deploy solutions. This onsite position is based in Saint Paul, MN.

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable, automated pipelines for both applications and data transformations.
• Architect API interfaces to support integrated systems and services.
• Utilize AWS services to create resilient, high‑performance applications and data stores.
• Conduct complex analyses and advanced design activities; configure and implement functions for high‑impact, high‑visibility initiatives.
• Lead efforts to design and implement solutions for moderately complex, loosely defined problems aligned with team objectives.
• Execute work independently and by guiding other engineers on the team.
• Head investigations and resolution efforts for critical, high‑impact problems, defects, and incidents.
• Serve as a technology advocate, proactively identifying opportunities to apply technology for business improvement.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship while promoting a collaborative team culture.
• Apply current industry trends and techniques to develop solutions within assigned initiatives.
• Pursue opportunities to broaden technical knowledge and capabilities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, related STEM field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of software engineering experience.

Salary Range

Salary range: USD 139,400 - 230,000 per year
