Senior Structural Engineer

Amentum is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support projects in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The role centers on design calculations, drawings, and specifications for steel, concrete, and masonry structures, employing both standard practices and advanced analysis methods such as finite element analysis. This hybrid position offers an in-office option in Oak Ridge with remote work flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to infrastructure programs that benefit communities across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design process by developing design calculations using standard and advanced analysis techniques (FEA software), and by producing design drawings and construction specifications for steel, concrete, and masonry structures.
• Engage with new design challenges and expand professional skills while supporting the development of infrastructure that benefits communities nationwide.

Requirements

• Sole US citizenship required to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations
• B.S. in Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school
• 12+ years of post-education experience
• Ability to follow and implement established quality procedures and ensure procedural compliance
• Design experience with steel, concrete, and masonry with emphasis on seismic design
• Experience implementing local and national codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI and ASCE
• Ability to use finite element software
• Competence using Microsoft Office
• Ability to learn new software as necessary for project success
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where requirements may evolve throughout projects

Work Location

• This position offers remote/hybrid work with a preference for full-time work in Oak Ridge, TN
• If you are within 50 miles of Oak Ridge, hybrid work requires in-office presence at least 50% of the week
• If you are outside of 50 miles, remote work is available with quarterly travel to the Oak Ridge office
• For hybrid and remote arrangements, a secured location within the United States approved by the company is required

Essential Functions

• Hand manipulation required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation

Compensation Details

Salary: USD 105,000 - 170,000 per year
