Job Description

Advance your career within Thornton Tomasetti’s Structural Practice in Tampa, FL, handling structural analysis, design, detailing, and growing-scope project responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Own structural analysis, design, and detailing assignments that increase in complexity; evaluate, select, and apply appropriate engineering methods, tools, and building codes.
  • Create and refine construction documents using a BIM workflow; propose modifications, address non-routine challenges, and ensure quality through structured self-review.
  • Coordinate across disciplines by working closely with architects, builders, and engineers; communicate technical needs, design assumptions, and coordination requirements in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support and mentor interns and entry-level engineers with day-to-day technical guidance; help develop best practices and effective navigation of project tasks.
  • Increase exposure to client-facing work by observing client interactions, learning about scopes, services, and fee structures, and building professional relationships within TT and across the industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of structural engineering experience with increasing proficiency using tools including SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, StructurePoint Software, and Revit.
  • Experience contributing to design of structural systems in steel, concrete, and timber.
  • Strong communication skills with a proactive approach to managing workload, mentoring, and ongoing skill development.
  • Initiative to strengthen expertise in both technical engineering and project delivery fundamentals.
