Senior UI/UX Engineer – Front-End & Design Systems

Senior UI/UX Engineer responsible for leading front-end design and design-system contributions for a Farm to School program in collaboration with MSDE. The role delivers responsive web and mobile interfaces and works closely with business analysts, engineers, and client stakeholders.

Overview

Location: Baltimore, MD, hybrid work arrangement. Compensation ranges from USD 78,000 to 95,000 per year. A Bachelor's degree is required, with at least six years of professional experience in front-end design and development and design-system work. The position emphasizes leading front-end design for a Farm to School program, delivering responsive interfaces and partnering across cross-functional teams to align with client goals.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement responsive web application user interfaces using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Create wireframes and prototypes from requirements and validate designs directly with users.
• Develop mobile- and cross-browser–friendly front-end interfaces using Bootstrap and Angular.
• Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that support intuitive experiences tied to key KPIs.
• Provide high- and low-fidelity interface designs, including prototypes, mockups, wireframes, and user stories, optimized for a wide range of devices.
• Make strategic design and UX decisions to maintain consistency across all product offerings.
• Apply a user-centered design approach, driving usability testing and rapid design iteration.
• Ensure UI/UX components comply with guidelines and standards in collaboration with the application team.
• Collaborate with Business Analysis, UI Engineering, and Client Support teams; communicate design processes and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
• At least six years of experience designing and developing web and mobile applications with responsive front-end interfaces.
• Six years of hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, Node.js, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Extensive experience with the latest JavaScript, Angular, and CSS frameworks.
• Strong working knowledge of JavaScript, JSON, REST, and XML.
• Ability to create wireframes and prototypes using current UI/UX tools.
