Job Description

Sunfire Solutions is seeking a cleared UI/UX Software Engineer (Expert) to design and implement web-based solutions in Fairfax, VA. This role is built for hands-on engineers who want to lead technical challenges, collaborate across UI/UX and architecture, and deliver maintainable front-end and full-stack experiences while working with modern web technologies.

Location: Fairfax, VA (onsite)  |  Clearance: Active US Government Security Clearance (TS/SCI with active poly)  |  Salary: $190,000 - $240,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Primarily work in development, spending the majority of time coding and delivering technical solutions with a team of engineers.
  • Write clean, professional code and encourage consistent coding practices across the team.
  • Design technical solutions based on broadly scoped requirements.
  • Analyze user experience, interactions, and usability to develop effective interfaces.
  • Create consistency across the application using component reuse, theming, and style guides.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on system architecture, UI/UX concerns, and application design elements.
  • Troubleshoot and debug technical issues across the stack.
  • Share technical knowledge with other developers.
  • Work with stakeholders and management to gather requirements, take the lead on technical challenges, and mentor junior team members.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision, communicate clearly, stay organized, and provide detailed technical analysis.

Requirements

  • Active US Government Security Clearance: TS/SCI with active poly.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to take on challenges and learn new things.
  • Desire to work at the forefront of the field.
  • Ability to work independently and in groups.
  • Education: BS/BA in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.

Technical Background

  • 10+ years of demonstrated software engineering experience in a front-end or full-stack capacity.
  • Extensive knowledge of JS/TypeScript, HTML, CSS (Less/Sass), and modern front-end frameworks (Vue.js, React, Angular, etc.).
  • Experience designing high-fidelity wireframes, mockups, and UI prototypes.
  • Extensive knowledge of REST APIs, JSON processing, and JSON Web Tokens.
  • Experience with NPM and Node.js.
  • Knowledge of advanced web topics including worker threads, web sockets, and storage APIs.
  • Knowledge of OO design patterns and software architectural patterns.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and AWS services.

Not Included in This Role

  • Writing user documentation or designing PowerPoint slides.
  • Simply installing and integrating COTS products.
  • Working with stagnant technologies.
  • Writing status reports or justifying career-goal metrics.
