Senior Wire Harness Design Engineer (EWIS)
Job Description
Saronic Technologies is seeking a Senior EWIS Wire Harness Design Engineer to own EWIS architecture execution and deliver manufacturable harness documentation for reliable vessel integration.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain EWIS architectures, schematics, and harness assembly drawings in Zuken E3, maintaining design intent, configuration control, and manufacturability.
- Lead complex 3D harness routing and packaging trade studies using NX (or equivalent), optimizing for integration constraints, serviceability, and production repeatability.
- Independently size wiring, shields, and protection devices by evaluating continuous and transient loads, voltage drop, derating, thermal environment, and fault conditions.
- Reduce EMI/EMC risk by defining grounding/bonding strategy, routing/separation, shielding approach, and termination selections aligned to system architecture.
- Review and approve EWIS designs created by Level 1 engineers, mentoring the team and improving documentation and design quality.
- Act as a primary interface to manufacturing and external suppliers; drive build readiness, incorporate DFM feedback, and mitigate schedule and technical risk.
- Plan and review EWIS verification and validation activities; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for complex wiring, EMI, and integration issues.
- Interpret and enforce IPC/WHMA, ABYC, ABS, and applicable MIL standards within projects to ensure consistent application across designs and releases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 5–12+ years of EWIS, harness engineering, or electrical integration experience with demonstrated ownership.
- Proficiency with Zuken E3 (or equivalent) and 3D harness routing/integration tools such as NX (or equivalent).
- Deep expertise in EWIS integration and production support, including independent wire/shield/protection sizing and grounding/bonding/shielding strategies.
- Strong capability to interpret and produce complex technical documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and harness/installation drawings, ensuring design intent transfers to installation.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical execution, improve workflows and documentation quality, and mentor engineers.
