Job Description

Embedded software engineer role at Booz Allen Hamilton in King George, VA, with on-site work and travel expectations to develop, test, and maintain software that enables communication between systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain essential software components.
  • Write and optimize code that bridges software modules to enable communication.
  • Design technology solutions for clients' mission-critical challenges.
  • Support the development of systems and tools for clients.
  • Leverage current tools and technologies to write, test, and refine code to support team outcomes.
  • Enhance your skills while configuring solutions tailored to the platform in use.
  • Collaborate with team leadership to diagnose and fix operational issues.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in C++ programming.
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, integration, and delivery of software solutions.
  • Experience maintaining and expanding state machine designs.
  • Experience conducting research, embracing new technologies, and applying concepts to projects.
  • Experience working in Linux environments.
  • Strong collaboration skills within cross-functional teams of developers, testers, engineers, and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to work on-site up to five days a week in indoor labs and outdoor testing environments.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or computer engineering and 3+ years of software development experience, or 7+ years of software development experience in lieu of a degree.

Clearance

  • Secret clearance is required; applicants will undergo a security investigation to determine eligibility for access to classified information.

Compensation

  • Salary range: USD 69,300 to 158,000 per year (annualized). Final pay depends on location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract specifics, and organizational requirements.

  • Identity verification may involve biometric checks and advanced AI tools; interviews and assessments may occur on camera, and Booz Allen may capture a photo to verify identity and prevent fraud.

Candidate AI Usage Policy

  • AI is part of daily work at Booz Allen, with a commitment to responsible use; use of AI or similar tools to assist with interview responses is prohibited unless explicitly permitted.

Work Model

  • Onsite: Work will be performed primarily at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, with direct collaboration with colleagues and customers as required.
  • Hybrid: Frequent in-office work at a Booz Allen facility, with possible visits to customer facilities based on role needs.
  • Remote: If listed as remote, there may still be occasions requiring in-person work at Booz Allen or customer facilities.
