Embedded Software Engineer

General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join a cross-functional team developing mission-critical, NSA-certified cybersecurity devices. This fully on-site role in Florham Park, NJ focuses on real-time embedded software, systems programming, integration, and testing using custom in-house hardware.

Role Summary

In this position, you will work with custom hardware built in-house for the Cyber group, contributing to a rapidly growing product line. The work is centered on high-speed data and cutting-edge cybersecurity capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team developing mission-critical NSA-certified cybersecurity devices using custom in-house hardware.
• Develop and support real-time embedded software as part of end-to-end engineering efforts.
• Contribute to software integration and testing activities for cybersecurity products.

Required Qualifications

• Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree plus 6 months of relevant experience.
• Security clearance: Department of Defense Secret security clearance required at time of hire.
• U.S. government investigation: Selected applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
• Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within company facilities.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Real-time embedded software, preferably on Linux.
• Systems programming experience using C/C++, with Rust experience preferred.
• Experience with software design, code, integration, and test.
• Experience supporting long development lifecycles and product longevity, including maintenance and regular technology refresh.
• Concurrent programming experience.

Salary

USD 115,252 - 121,554 per year. This estimate represents a typical salary range based on experience and other factors such as geographic location. Actual pay may vary.
