This Software Engineer role is on-site in the United States (Location listed: Annapolis Junction, MD) and requires an Active Top Secret/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph. Work is scheduled for Shift: First and U.S. citizenship is required (Requisition ID: 4922).
What you’ll do
You will develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems based on documented requirements. The work spans the full delivery lifecycle, including design, coding, debugging, integration, testing, and documentation, with support for system design trade-offs and alignment to performance and functional standards. Depending on the project’s software development process, you may also serve as a team lead.
- Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
- Design and code new software, or modify existing software to add features.
- Debug existing software and correct defects.
- Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
- Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
- Recommend improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
- Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
- Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
- Write or review software and system documentation.
- Use analysis of system performance standards, requirements discussions, system flow, data usage, work processes, and issue investigation to drive software solutions.
- Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the project’s software development process.
- Modify software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
- Apply scientific analysis and mathematical models to design, develop, and modify software systems and predict outcomes and consequences.
- Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.
- Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure completion according to process constraints.
- Implement complex algorithms with adherence to strict timing, resource, or interface constraints.
- Perform quality control on team products.
- Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to meet operational specifications.
- Confer with system and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and clarify project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
Required qualifications
- 14 years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- 4 additional years of Software Engineer experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for the bachelor’s degree.
- Experience with Go, Python, Terraform, and AWS.
- Active Top Secret/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
- U.S. citizenship required.
