Job Description

This on-site role in Lehi, UT for Vivint focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining automated tests for the smart home security system, collaborating with panel software engineers, QA, hardware engineers, and product teams to deliver reliable and secure experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Python based automated tests for API, UI, and system-level scenarios across panels and peripheral devices.
  • Evaluate manual test cases and identify automation candidates.
  • Debug test failures and proactively reduce flaky tests.
  • Participate in code reviews and uphold automation best practices.
  • Collaborate with software developers, hardware teams, and manual quality engineers on integration and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain automated unit and functional tests.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional embedded test automation experience.
  • 3+ years of Python development experience.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and drive projects to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience using AI tools for software design, development, and review, including strong prompt engineering capabilities and the ability to choose among multiple models and tools for each task.
  • Solid understanding of embedded and IoT systems and device communication fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux-based systems, including debugging and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Git, Docker, and GitLab in the context of automated testing and deployment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware-software integration challenges effectively.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and consistent delivery of high-quality work on schedule.
