Job Description

Truist Bank is seeking a Software Engineer II to design and deliver technically complex solutions within an Agile development environment. The role centers on partnering with product owners to define objectives and integrating automated testing, monitoring, and security throughout the release cycle. This position is based in Atlanta, GA with a hybrid work model and requires onsite presence at Truist offices in Atlanta for at least four days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technically complex solutions and provide system integration support across projects.
  • Collaborate with business product owners to clarify goals and offer design recommendations.
  • Develop tailored coding and software integrations, perform analysis, and configure solutions using project-specific tools.
  • Lead and participate in the development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support of intricate solutions, adhering to company standards and emphasizing robust unit testing and release-testing support.
  • Create non-functional monitoring capabilities and provide escalated support for complex applications in production.
  • Implement and maintain security controls and monitoring in line with corporate standards.
  • Typically lead moderately complex projects while contributing to larger, more complex initiatives.
  • Resolve advanced technical and operational problems and mentor teammates with less experience; may oversee a small team.
  • In an Agile environment, deliver high quality working software, automate manual tasks, engage with the business from the design outset, apply continuous engineering practices, refine user stories, and maintain automated unit testing while supporting integration and functional testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 4 years of software engineering or IT consulting experience performing data conversions between processors.
  • Strong knowledge of information systems and ability to apply IT best practices.
  • Understanding of key banking-related business processes and competitive IT strategies.
  • Experience planning and managing projects, solving complex problems, and mentoring less experienced teammates.
  • Ability to work with Business and Operations teams to refine requirements and design banking-system solutions.
  • Solid relational database design and development skills, including SQL, stored procedures, and data modeling.
  • Experience coordinating data definitions, rules, access policies, and encryption techniques across cross-functional streams to maintain data quality and reliability.
  • Experience developing feasibility study reports to assess practicality and identify potential challenges and solutions.
  • Proficiency with JCL; IMS database; IBM tools such as ISPF, IBM File Manager, NDM, ConnectDirect; IBM Utilities; COBOL; DB2; CICS; VSAM; SQL; SAS; CA-ESP; CA-WA Workstation; File Manager; DBVisualizer; SoapUI; and Unix.
  • This role is based in Atlanta, GA and may be eligible for a hybrid remote model; applicants must be able to work onsite at Truist offices in Atlanta, GA at least four days per week.
