Job Description

On-site Software Engineer III role at JPMorganChase in Jersey City, NJ, with a salary between USD 133,000 and 185,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end software delivery, including design, development, and debugging, with the ability to tackle non traditional problems and break down complex technical challenges.
  • Produce secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that operate in coordination with related systems.
  • Leverage enterprise authorized AI coding assist tools to boost code quality, delivery speed, and productivity on complex deliverables such as code generation, refactoring, unit tests, and documentation, validated through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; share learnings and reusable patterns to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Apply knowledge of the software development life cycle toolchain, including enterprise AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to maximize automation value.
  • Create architecture and design artifacts for sophisticated applications and ensure code aligns with defined constraints.
  • Gather, analyze, synthesize, and present visualizations and reports from large, diverse data sets to support continuous software improvements.
  • Proactively identify hidden data patterns and use these insights to enhance coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Follow best practices in SRE, DevOps, and observability to improve platform health.
  • Analyze large volumes of structured, unstructured, and telemetry data to uncover trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in site reliability engineering concepts plus 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Additionally, 2+ years of experience guiding technologists to solve complex items within the relevant domain.
  • Experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering environments.
  • Exposure to observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or CloudWatch.
  • Basic understanding of automation, operational tooling, and event-driven workflows.
  • Foundational knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud architecture.
  • Experience leading teams in the safe use of enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for reliability engineering workflows, including validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java/Spring Boot, or .Net.
  • Solid understanding of software applications and technical processes within a given discipline (for example Cloud or AI).
  • Proficiency with CI/CD practices, containerization/orchestration, and troubleshooting common networking issues.
  • Ability to establish and reinforce organization-wide practices for reviewing AI-assisted recommendations and escalating uncertain decisions while maintaining resiliency, security, and auditability.
