Software Engineer Level 1

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 to support the DAC effort for the GEO and BAT teams. In this onsite United States role, you will contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of complex software systems, with a focus on performance, integration, testing, and documentation.

This position supports end-to-end engineering activities, from analyzing user requirements and translating them into software design to debugging, integrating components, and developing algorithms and database interfaces that meet functional and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features.
• Debug existing software, identify defects, and implement fixes.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
• Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases and data repositories.
• Recommend improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
• Develop and/or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Write or review software and system documentation.
• Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers, analyzing system flow and data usage, and investigating problem areas.
• Act as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process used on the project.
• Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes.
• Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries.

Required Qualifications

• Security clearance: Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
• Experience: Seven (7) years as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Strong Java experience.
• Experience with MapReduce.
• Cloud experience.
• Experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) technologies such as HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, or similar.
• Experience with MapReduce programming model technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, or similar.
• Experience with Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
• Experience with serialization technologies such as JSON and/or BSON.
