Software Engineer (Level 3/4)

Northrop Grumman is seeking a mid- to senior-level Software Engineer to develop, integrate, deploy, and sustain satellite ground software onsite at the McLean, VA campus, with a Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Full stack development across the operating system, platform, and mission-specific software layers.
• Design and implement client and server applications and services using service or object-oriented architectures and message bus-based data exchange, including first-of-a-kind capabilities.
• Leverage languages and toolsets such as Python, C++, Postgres, Ansible, cloud infrastructure provisioning, PKI, and static code analysis for remediation.
• Operate as a self-starter capable of decisions with awareness of overall project budget and schedule.
• Support Operations ground software and related configurations, troubleshooting both software errors and hardware impacting ground operations.
• Assist with Acceptance Test events, including executing tests.
• Contribute to test automation efforts.
• Configure ground segment software and manage deployments.
• Resolve software defects and implement enhancements driven by customer change requests or mission needs.
• Provide ground software support during launch and launch rehearsal events.
• Support installation of new ground segment software in operational, development, and test environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (ideally Computer Science or Engineering) plus 5 years of experience; or a master's degree with 3 years; or a PhD (excluding internships, research projects, etc.) with an additional 4 years of relevant experience considered in lieu of the degree.
• Demonstrated software development experience.
• Python application development, C++ proficiency, and Bash scripting experience.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Current or active Top-Secret clearance required at the time of application.

Compensation

• Salary: USD 114,000 - 213,400 per year
